Mieruko-Chan: A spooky manga ?
Welcome back everyone, it's been a while ! I was busy for a bit so I haven't posted as much as I was used to but I'm back on the track !
So far, we've mostly talked about fighting anime; one where it's a tournament, one where a character uses his strength over magic or even one where Gods and humans fight it out ! I thought that it'd be repetitive to talk about yet another action based story and this time since it's Halloween ! (Okay i'm one week late but let's just act like it's actually Halloween) I thought I'd speak about one of the few "horror" manga I've read : Mieruko-Chan Just by taking a good look at the cover, you understand some of the plot : A highschool girl, having to live her everyday life even tho she has the ability to see ghosts around her. That's it ! Mieruko, the main character, has to act like she doesn't seem them or they could haunt her forever, the thing is, these monsters are terryfing, even through a manga, they're honestly hard to look at

This manga was realized and drawn by Tomoki Izumi, it was originally a simple idea posted to twitter, the comic got pretty popular and ended up turning into an actual manga. It's pretty rare that something like this happens, the only other one I know of is the author "One" and his manga One punch man. It was originally made to be read online but got picked up by an editor and made into an actual manga. As simple as the idea might be, the manga knows that only showing scary monsters and having the main character trying her best not to react to it would be too simple, so he made sure to come up with smart ideas to keep it original.
For exemple, in a chapter, you have the daily life of Mieruko and her family, she wakes up, tries not to freak out at the sight of some monsters and go in the living room to have a breakfast with her family, everything seems normal at first until the last line where the main character makes us understand that her father died and that his spirit is still with them, sitting at their table.
It's honestly a pretty sad chapter that isn't particularly important for the story in itself, the next chapter moving onto another story without even taking notice of this one. It keeps you interested in what the manga will throw at you next since the entire story seems rather dark yet has very joyful and lively characters as you can see on the side.
Another reason as to why I wanted to talk about this manga was the fact it came out as an anime ! I didn't have the time to watch it yet so I couldn't tell you if it's any good but I think it's worth a watch just for the amazing pitch that the manga has ! I'll let you get see what the anime is all about with the first trailer that was posted on Youtube, afterall this blog is about mangas, not anime!
