Mashle : if Harry Potter was a bodybuilder !
Today's the real first post ! I wasn't sure on how to start, picking a manga out of all the ones I read was pretty rough, but for the first manga review, I wanted to start on a gentle note ! So, I thought about using a comedic manga, there's a few I read, not as much as other genre since comedic mangas sometimes end up falling flat, no real plot to get you invested in and too much jokes can kill your reading experience.
That's when it hit me ! A funny manga with a nice plot and cool characters ? That's Mashle !
Mashle is a shonen manga (A manga meant for boys and teens) written and drawn by Hajime Komoto. It was first published on the 27th of January 2020 in the Weekly Shonen Jump, a book that comes out every week with all of the new chapters of shonen mangas.
The story is pretty simple : We live in a world where magic dominates everything, everyone uses magic and spells for all kinds of reason, fighting, creating buildings, travelling...
We follow a young boy called Mash Burnedeaed which happens to be born without magic, but instead Mash uses his muscle that he worked out all of these years for ! The police finds out about it and decides to let him live only if he's able to get the title of Divine visionary, obtainable by getting the best of grades in the Easton Magic Academy. Here's a picture of Mash !

As you can tell the story is pretty straight forward, the main character has a goal that he's forced to accomplish no matter what, the story seems even more simple when you realize that Mash is really strong, strong enough to do things that no other human could. He also has a weird obsession with cream puffs...Thought it was worth saying !
I also love the fact that the drawings perfectly match the manga, Mashle is comedic of course but can get pretty serious when Mash has to fight a strong foe or when a new bad guy is presented, if all of it was comedic, it'll end up giving no charisma to the villains or even the hero and it'll feel like a big joke but the author knows exactly how to swap from serious to comedic, even during a fight, giving it a mix of both that works perfectly !
In conclusion, I'd say that Mashle is a perfect manga recommandation for anyone, both new readers and manga lovers, even tho it's basic in it's form, it makes up for it by having characters with really cool designs, interesting backgrounds and strange but surprising plot twists from time to time. It's not finished yet and comes out in the Weekly shonen Jump ! This manga is all about Mash and all his new friends trying to prove to the world that you can do anything you want if you belive in it and got people to help you with that dream, since friendship is a really big theme in Mashle. Since i'm talking about his friend, i'll end this post on a picture of the bodybuilder and all his friends!
